Community Murals

Transfer Station | Denamark, ME

The Denmark, Maine transfer station collects returnable bottles for the town’s not-for-profit organizations. Currently, the funds benefit the Denmark Library, The Denmark Arts Center, and the Veterans Club. The small shed was a hunter-green color with a small sign that was often looked over. Now a pale pink background helps the giant bottles and cans pop off the building, grabbing the attention of donators.

Diana’s Baths | Bartlett, NH

Diana’s Baths now features a mural by the Kennett High School Visual Arts class, highlighting "Leave No Trace." This art complements new signage in partnership with VisitNH, encouraging bathroom respect. Check out the gallery below to see Olivia & her team of students

Leavitt’s Bakery | North Conway, NH

In 2022, Sean Young was encouraged by a community member to reach out to the Kennett High School Art Department to see if they would be interested in creating a mural on one of his local businesses. With the guidance of art teacher Olivia Benish, students designed and painted a 25-foot-long mural inspired by the award-winning donuts and pastries at Leavitt’s Country Bakery. While the community first celebrated the project, the Town of Conway deemed the mural a “sign” that broke the town ordinance and asked the business to remove it. The bakery refused and it’s pending federal litigation.
